Hello, I am Nikolett, a licensed Hungarian tour guide.

Though Budapest, the heart-stealing capital of Hungary is my place of birth and I grew up here, I have lived in Coventry, U.K. and New York, N.Y. for a while, where I learnt my English.

As a tour guide, I have 13 years of professional experience with travellers mainly from the U.S.A., Canada, the U.K., Australia, New Zealand, India, Korea, and I hope YOU are going to be next!

Come with me and explore the best Budapest has to offer. From UNESCO world heritage sites, such as the Castle, the Parliament, Heroes’s Square and St Stephen’s Cathedral, through local music and art traditions to Hungarian food and drink specialties, I will ensure you get the most out of your Budapest stay.

I would be happy to show you Budapest’s hidden treasures as well, such as the atmospheric Jewish Quarter, the shocking memorabilia of Communism and Cold War, magnificent spas and some really unique shops – the quirky details that make a tour memorable as you discover Budapest’s past, present and future.

Travel like everyday residents of the city on the old underground, the legendary yellow trams or take walks – the best way to experience Budapest. However, if you prefer to explore the world in comfort, let’s discover the sights in a private car/minivan together.

All my tours are fully customized to your interests and flexible on the day(s) to take account of any special events taking place or the weather. With me, as your own private guide, you will have the time to fully experience Budapest, stopping to take the perfect photo or popping into one of the historical cafés, covered markets or wine bars we pass.

If you have an extended stay in Hungary, join me and explore some of my favorite places on a half-day or day tour near Budapest. Castles, impressive countryside and unbeatable hospitality are waiting for you.

Be my guest. You will get a lot more in Budapest than you have ever imagined!

Gödöllő Royal Castle Tour

DESCRIPTION
Do you feel like going off the beaten track for a while? But not too far from Budapest? Are you interested in royals? Do you enjoy the greenery of the countryside? If yes, then join me and let’s visit the former summer Royal Palace of the Hungarian kings and queens in the tiny town of Gödöllő. Dig yourself into the splendor of the 1700s and the 1800s. Let me tell stories to recall the life of the Hungarian aristocracy and the legendary royal couple of King Francis Joseph I and his wife Queen Elizabeth (better known for her nickname as “Sisi”), who turned a smaller lodge into a true imperial summer residence. Learn more about Hungary’s pro-German governor Miklós Horthy who used the palace as a summer retreat between the two world wars and find out what the Soviet Red Army did here after 1945. Take a walk in the magnificent 26-acre English garden of the Palace – relax and enjoy the sunshine and your coffee and cake there.

ITINERARY
Situated about 17. 5 miles east of Budapest, the Royal Palace of Gödöllő is one of the most important and most elegant Baroque monuments of Hungarian palace architecture from the mid-1700s. It takes approximately 45-60 minutes to drive there. The palace itself has recently been restored to welcome visitors again in its full splendor. The interior includes more than 30 exhibition rooms, bringing back the atmosphere of Royal Hungary in the 18th and 19th centuries with historical accuracy. Our 2-hour visit there will include the Great Reception Hall, King Francis Joseph Wing & Exhibition, Queen Elisabeth Wing & Exhibition, Count Grassalkovich Wing & Exhibition and a walk around in the English Gardens. At the end of the tour we save some time to sit down in the Palace Café and relax before returning to Budapest.
